2016 TRIP MEMBERS
Nathan Buck
Nathan is a junior majoring in neuroscience. He plans to attend dental school upon graduation. Beyond Timmy, Nathan is involved with Cru, Y’ALL, and intramural sports. This is his second year of involvement with the marketing committee. In his free time, he likes to play golf, listen to country music, and watch ESPN. He hopes to gain a greater perspective on how he can serve in the area of global health in his future career.
Mikayla Burrell
Mikayla Burrell is a sophomore majoring in biology and neuroscience. Along with Timmy, she is involved with the Hutton Honors Council Association, Chi Alpha and Alpha Chi Sigma, the chemistry fraternity. This is her second year being involved with Timmy. She has plans to go to medical school after graduation.
Dalounny Homsab
Dalounny is a junior at Indiana University majoring in community health with minors in biochemistry and chemistry. She is following a pre-dental track. After graduation she plans to attend dental school somewhere in the West Coast and later open her own practice. This is Dalounny’s first year with Timmy Global Health. In addition to Timmy, she is also a BIG for Big Brother and Big Sisters and is involved in MAPS and the Filipino Student Association. In her free time, she likes to cook, hike, and take road trips to new cities with friends.
Pete Hunter
Pete is a freshman studying Biology with minors in Chemistry and Italian. In addition to Timmy, he is involved in the IU Biology Club, the Student Athletic Board, and the IU Alumni Association. Pete enjoys painting, traveling, and playing basketball. He has plans to one day attend medical school with hopes of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.
Valarie Kumalo
Valarie is a Junior studying Global Medical Health and Environment. Along with Timmy, Valarie is involved with The Body and Mind Committee with the Indiana Memorial Union Board and the Read to Succeed Program at the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club. Valarie likes spending time with her family and friends and trying new things. She hopes to get a new perspective on health inequalities.
Kaveet Pandya
Kaveet is a freshman majoring in Cognitive Science with minors in Spanish, Anthropology, and Chemistry. In addition to Timmy, he is involved in the Teter Conduct Board, the Wellman Lab, and the Indiana University Journal of Undergraduate Research (IUJUR). Kaveet enjoys playing table tennis, listening to different types of music, and spending time with his family and friends. Eventually, he hopes to attend medical school and continue to serve in the healthcare field!
Andrew Sickbert
Andrew is a sophomore majoring in biology and minoring in psychology, chemistry, and animal behavior. He is involved in NSCS and biology club. He enjoys playing and watching football and basketball, and loves to watch IU basketball. In the future, he would like to attend medical school and eventually become an orthopedic surgeon.
Amitha Sundaram
Amitha is a junior studying community health with a minor in global health promotion. In addition to being involved with Timmy, Amitha is the webmaster for Raas Royalty, a member of the Minority Association of Pre-medical students, and a research intern with the Indiana Prevention Resource Center . In her free time, Amitha enjoys photography, exploring Bloomington, and baking. After graduation, Amitha hopes to enter the healthcare field.
Bartosz Szewczyk
Bart is a sophomore majoring in Microbiology with minors in Sociology and European History. Bart is also involved in the Polish Studies Center at IU and likes to spend his free time playing the violin. Bart plans on attending medical school in the future and plans on becoming a trauma surgeon. This is his first year in Timmy Global Health and his first year going on the trip.

Sean Buehler
Sean is a Junior at Indiana University studying Community Health with a minor in Spanish. This is Sean's second year in Timmy and and his first time going on the trip. Outside of Timmy, Sean guides rock climbing trips for Indiana University Outdoor Adventures, is a member of Alpha Chi Sigma chemistry fraternity, and co-instructs IU's Wilderness First Responder course. After graduation, he hopes to attend medical school, and one day become a Family Medicine or Emergency physician.
Myranda Grismore
Myranda is a freshman studying Biology with a minor in Psychology. In addition to Timmy, she is involved in the IU Biology Club and the IU Alumni Association. Myranda enjoys playing basketball, reading, and traveling. She has plans to one day attend medical school and potentially specialize in cardiology.
Carmen Hu
Carmen is a sophomore studying Human Biology. This is her first year in Timmy. In her free time when not studying Orgo, Carmen enjoys listening to the Beyoncé radio on Pandora. She also enjoys playing soccer and is a referee for the local community. In the future, Carmen plans on attending medical school, becoming a bariatric physician, and volunteering abroad.
Rayne Kim
Rayne is a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Biology with minors in English and Psychology. She currently works in Dr. Krendl's social neuroscience lab, researching mental health stigma in older adults. Along with Timmy, she is actively involved as the Managing Editor for the Indiana University Journal of Undergraduate Research (IUJUR) and serves as scholarship chair for Alpha Chi Sigma, the chemistry fraternity. She loves listening to music, reading books, and hopes to continue her education with medical school in the future.
Pooja Pandita
Pooja is a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry, Spanish, and Business. She is on a pre-medical track and hopes to become a physician. This is her second year involved with Timmy Global Health. In addition to Timmy, Pooja is involved with the Hutton Honors College Ambassadors Program and Indian Student Association. She is also a research assistant in a Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience research lab.
Matthew Pappas
Matthew is a sophomore studying Biochemistry with minors in Psychology and Spanish. Matt is also involved in IU Club Baseball and likes to spend his free time playing the piano. Matt plans on attending medical school in hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon. This is his second year with Timmy global health and his first time going on the trip.
Brenden Spangler
Brenden is a freshman majoring in Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation and International Business at IU's Kelley School of Business. Brenden is also a film and photography student, who is involved in organizations such as WIUX student radio, Habitat for Humanity, Student Cinema Guild, IU Thirst Project, and Reinvest IU. He is a soccer fanatic, whose favorite teams are Real Madrid and Arsenal. Despite being a business student, the issue of global healthcare is of great importance to Brenden. He hopes to utilize what he learns from Timmy and the medical brigade, to engage the issue of global healthcare through a business component in the future.
Kristen Swanson
Kristen is a junior majoring in Biology and Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry and French. She hopes to attend medical school in the future. This is Kristen's third year in Timmy and second time going on the medical brigade. Timmy has helped her discover a passion for global health equality! She is also involved in Alpha Chi Sigma, Union Street Center Student Government, and the Wellman neuroscience lab. Kristen is an avid participant of Intramural Sports!
Anna Tam
Anna is a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Biology. Aside from Timmy, she is involved with the Hohmann lab, Alpha Chi Sigma, and the IU Journal of Undergraduate Research. In her free time, she likes to cook, read, listen to music, and attempt Pilates. After graduation, Anna hopes to enter the healthcare field.

2016 Trip Leaders
Ashley Jones
Ashley is a senior in the Indiana University School of Nursing with a specific interest in cardiac nursing. She currently works as a Patient Care Assistant at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on the Cardiovascular Recovery unit in addition to working in the Nursing Resource and Learning Lab located on IU's campus. This is Ashley's second year involved in Timmy Global Health. She was a member of the 2015 brigade and is excited to be going back to serve the people of Guatemala!

Petr Sliva
Petr is a junior majoring in Biology and Neuroscience with minors in Spanish and Chemistry. This is Petr's third year involved with Timmy Global Health and his second time going to Guatemala with Timmy. In addition to Timmy, Petr works in the O'Donnell research lab and is involved with Alpha Chi Sigma and Intramural Sports. After graduation, Petr plans to attend medical school and continue to advocate for global health!
